Local Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to police.
Vehicles, building surfaces and postal boxes were vandalized, occasionally with swastikas, they stated in a release.
Law enforcement say they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a individual discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish fluid.
The substance had been applied in the form of a swastika, they added.
Police then located multiple other marked automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement report initial examinations show the liquid was likely human blood.
"Currently there is no lead as to its origin; authorities are not yet aware of any physical harm in connection with the occurrence," they stated.
Local authorities stated they were trying "to resolve the case" and have appealed to the public for information.
A high-ranking representative stated the incident made him stunned and had to be resolved promptly.
"This act affects the center of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the right-wing terrorist attack half a decade ago," he wrote on social media, recalling the death of nine victims by a assailant targeting people of migrant background in five years prior.
